Mike Huggins specializes in the history of sports culture during the past three centuries. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Cultural History at the University of Cumbria, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a Fellow and President of the European Committee for Sports History, and a Fellow of the British Society for Sports History. He serves on the editorial consultancy boards of five peer-reviewed academic leisure and sports history journals, and has received awards for his published work and scientific contributions to the history of sport from the North American Society for Sport History and the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport. His many books and edited collections have covered topics such as the visual in sport, match-fixing, horse racing and British culture from 1660 to 1945, sport and tourism, sport and British society from 1837 to 1939, and Victorian vice.
