Dr Martin Littlewood is a Principal Lecturer in Sport Psychology and Development at Liverpool John Moores University and is also Head of The Football Exchange, which specialises in providing applied solutions to the football industry. He gained his PhD in 2004 from LJMU and his research interests focus on the psychological development of youth players in professional football, identity, personal development, career transitions, and organisational culture. Martin is a BASES Accredited Sport & Exercise Scientist (Scientific Support) and holds Chartered Scientist status. Much of Martin’s applied practice has been conducted in English Premier League football. From 2003-2008, he worked at Bolton Wanderers FC delivering psychological and lifestyle based support to players and coaches. More recently, he has worked with staff and players at Everton FC on a number of projects related to the psychological development of players. He was a former youth trainee at Leeds United FC between 1992-1994.
